Jean-Luc & Paul Aegerter
Jean-Luc Aegerter began his business in 1988 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, when he took over the Pierre Gruber Company. In 2001, at the age of 26, Paul Aegerter joined his father and is now in charge of the development of the company’s customer base in France and in the export market.
It is a dynamic combination: a man with long experience and a well-defined personality and his young, energetic son who has a strong sense of innovation.
Jean-Luc Aegerter “makes the wines he likes and likes each of the wines he produces” and concentrates on niche products for a clientele of knowledgeable, enthusiastic wine lovers.
As Burgundy consists of a large number of small parcels of land, it gets its richness from the diversity of soils and its sometimes difficult climate. These are the conditions that give its wines their very special character.
To control the complexities of Mother Nature, Jean-Luc Aegerter pays particular attention to the growing area and is especially rigorous in his choice of grape variety, both vitally important factors in producing wines that are typical of small individual areas.
The wines marketed by the Jean-Luc Aegerter company are sourced in two ways – from the company’s own grape production and from the buying-in of grapes and wines.
Jean-Luc Aegerter’s work as a winegrower accounts for 15% of production, from his vineyards in Savigny-les-Beaune, Chorey-les-Beaune, Beaune and Nuits-Saint- Georges where the grapes are grown using a “lutte raisonée” method.
